DIAMOND BOY sired an exciting bumper winner on St. Stephen’s Day as VALDIEU bolted up by 10 lengths at Down Royal. Sent off favourite under Mark O’Hare, he was ridden to chase the leaders, making progress to share the lead over three furlongs from home and ran on well to score in fine style.
A delighted Noel Meade commented after the race,”We always thought he was a very good horse, he just kept bumping into good ones. It is quite possible he will enjoy that easier ground – a lot of those Diamond Boys do. He (Mark O’Hare) said he was cantering the whole way. My plan is to send him jumping soon – hurdling straight away.”
