LE PRECIEUX bolted up by seven lengths in a mile and six furlong maiden at Chelmsford on Thursday.
The Gary Moore trained five-year-old was sent off even money favourite and was ridden confidently by Hector Crouch, tracking the leaders until two furlongs out, from where he asserted and stretch clear easily.
The son of Diamond Boy finished fourth on his sole other flat start in October, though that came over a shorter distance. He was bought by current connections after winning over hurdles by seven lengths at Aix-Les-Bains for Emmanuel Clayeux and Madame Patrick Papot.
Bred by J Haimet, J Liberge and P Delahaye, Le Precieux is a three-parts brother to Grade 1 winning chaser Lagunak, a son of Diamond’s Boy’s sire, Mansonnien. Diamond Boy stood for €5,000 in 2018.
